Yoga Alliance accredited yoga teacher training course in rishikesh: An Overview
The syllabus we have crafted for Yoga Alliance accredited 200 hours Teacher’s Training Course is immersive and intensive for aspirants who want to delve deeper into the philosophy and practices of yoga. There are sessions dedicated in the course to enable an aspirant to understand the nuances of class teachings based on yogic principles and discussions on philosophical topics will help streamline the approach and experiences of yogic practices in the class. Based on the guidelines of Yoga Alliance, USA, our syllabus has five major areas of concentrated study.
Dedicated Teaching on Practical Techniques of Hatha Yoga, Vinyasa and Meditation
The first and the foremost area of study are Techniques, Training and Practice of yogic discipline. This entire paper of practical teaching is further segmented into components of Hatha Yoga and Vinyasa Yoga and traditional Meditation. Being an aspirant of yoga, we believe you as a practitioner need to delve deeper into the practical teaching of yoga. Therefore, there are two sessions dedicated in our course for Hatha yoga and Vinyasa yoga every day. Every day there will be three and half hours of sessions dedicated to these two streams of physical-energetic disciplines. And one session each on Pranayama (Breathing Technique) and meditation.
Intensive sessions on traditional Meditation
In our Yoga Alliance accredited yoga teacher training course in rishikesh, Meditation forms an integral and most important stage of yogic journey. In traditional Yoga teaching meditation forms a central focus of study. But unfortunately, in most of the yoga retreats or yoga classes systematic teaching of meditation is not given enough emphasis. As a result, the understanding and awareness of meditation in aspiring teachers never develops. But without incorporating meditation in one’s teaching and practice, the journey of yoga is incomplete. The entire focus of classical teaching of Patanjali is to reach the state of consciousness free from fluctuations and dissipation as it is mentioned in the second verse of Patanjali Yoga Sutra which also outlines the intended goal of yoga:
yogash chitta vritti nirodhah ||2||
Yoga is the cessation of all fluctuations (Vritti) of consciousness.
We teach a very diverse range of meditation techniques sourced from authentic systems and branches of yoga philosophies. All these techniques of meditation such as Yoga Nidra, Antar Mouna, Ajapa Japa, Hridyakasha Dharana and many more, are pratyahara and dharana techniques; which systematically help to discipline and harmonize our mental and emotional energies. Our Yoga Alliance accredited yoga teacher training course in rishikesh is one of the most balanced and intensive TTC available in Rishikesh; which helps one not only to become a complete teacher professionally.
Becoming a Teacher
The second paper of the syllabus in our Yoga Alliance accredited yoga teacher training course in rishikesh, is Teaching Methodology. Module created for this paper are in line with international standard of class teaching. This includes topics such as Elements of effective class presentation, effective class management and business aspects of teaching yoga. We believe after becoming a teacher you own a lot of responsibilities not simply as an instructor in a class but also becoming an inspiration, a role model and an accomplished technician of yogic teaching. Learning a set of asanas and meditation sessions do not make one an effective teacher. We strive to share with our practitioners not only the nuances of class teachings but also about the discipline and ethics of a Yoga teacher.
Knowing the Body; in-depth teaching of Yogic and physical anatomy
Journey of yoga is all about knowing oneself. In most practical sense if we want to know ourselves we should start with our physical body. The discipline of somatic psychology says that our body is the log of our habits, traumas, complexes and psychic predispositions.
The third aspect of syllabus entails knowledge of human body and movements in light of yogic practices. Under this topic of Anatomy and Physiology we will not only understand the structure and functions of the human systems and organs but will study their interactions and involvement in yogic practices. A major part of this discussion will also incorporate the concept of yogic anatomy and physiology which will have focus on the subtle concept of nadis, chakras and pranic physiology.
Laying strong foundation of Yoga philosophy
Study modules in our Teacher’s Training program have comprehensive topics on yoga philosophy which will entail the study of classical texts such as Patanjali Yoga Sutras, Hatha Yoga Pradipika, Gherand Samhita, Samkhya Philosophy, Tantra Philosophy and Kundalini Yoga. There are dedicated lessons on untouched but very important areas of Samkhya Philosophy which forms the metaphysical background of Patanjali Yoga sutra and Classical Raja Yoga.
Practicum; Translating knowledge into action
The final segment of the syllabus is practicum which involves process of harnessing the skills through practical sessions. These sessions will be in group settings aiming at refining the teaching skills of practitioners in real and live yoga classes. These classes will be conducted under the supervision of the lead teacher and upon completion of each session feedback, suggestions and appropriate guidance will be provided to enhance one’s teaching quality in class. The Class teaching of the aspiring teachers will be observed and assessed on the guiding principles of International standard of class teaching.
